2011 TOAST TO CHAMPIONS AND AWARDEES

Presented below are the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) individual awardees for their outstanding performance and valuable contribution to the Champions League 2011 National Collegiate Championship:
 
Kirk Long (Ateneo Blue Eagles) -Model Collegiate Player of the Year
This is the highest honor conferred by PCCL to the player who has completed his collegiate basketball playing years and whose achievements make him worthy for emulation as a role model of an accomplished collegiate athlete.
 
Kirk successfully combined academic and sports achievements completing collegiate education whilst playing competitive basketball (2007 to 2011) and consistently upholding the high standards of performance and sportsmanship as a vital team member of Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagles, 2007, 2009 and 2010 PCCL National Collegiate Champion.
 
Ian Sangalang (SSC-R Golden Stags) – Most Valuable Player - Finals
Ian played consistent and heads-up games as San Sebastian Golden Stags survived the step-ladder knock-out phase of Sweet 16 and eventually edged out the heavily favored Ateneo Blue Eagles to become the first NCAA team to capture the Champions League (PCCL) National Collegiate title.
 
Calvin Abueva (SSC-R Golden Stags) – Game Changer Award
Calvin was the impact player of San Sebastian Golden Stags whose athleticism and skill changed the complexion of crucial games and carried the team to victory.  
 
Francisco “Frank” Gusi (Athletic Moderator, San Sebastian College-Recoletos) – Motivator of the Year Award
After the heartbreaking loss in the NCAA championship, Frank provided the motivating force that lifted and rekindled the SSC-R Golden Stags team spirit and drive. The team eventually overcame odds and made history as the first NCAA team to capture the Champions League National Collegiate crown.
 
Edmundo Badolato (Athletic Moderator, San Beda College) – Eye For Talent Award
“Ato”, as he is fondly called, has an eye for talent that enabled him to pick young players and develop them to become future stars through his unselfish effort in providing guidance and discipline necessary for young players to attain their full potential.
 
Atty. Ruben Capahi (Head, Ormoc City Schools Sports Organization) – Best Host of Champions League 2011 Games
Atty. Capahi demonstrated managerial and marketing skills by hosting the Overalll Southern Islandschampionship and the Visayas Regional games in an atmosphere of camaraderie amidst intense competition; and successfully promoting the event for the benefit of local collegiate basketball fans.
 
Peter A. Musngi (Managing Director, ABS-CBN Sports)  
Peter received a Special Award from PCCL in recognition of his valuable support and contribution to the realization of the “one national collegiate champion” concept by providing much needed television exposure, a vital component in enhancing the coverage and prestige of the Champions League National Collegiate championship. Thus, making the Champions League games the credible process in bringing together the best teams in the country in search of the “one and only national collegiate champion.”
